In recent times, with the spread of COVID-19, many companies are encouraging or mandating their employees to work remotely as much as possible. Well, many people are fantasized about the idea of working from home. But working remotely can be challenging in many ways. Although working remotely is a luxury, but the key problem is? Productivity. Working from home is great, but it can be problematic if it’s not well managed.

Though It’s about doing what works well for you, but here are a few pointers that will hopefully help you start your day right and maintain productivity.

1. Maintain a Schedule

Make the schedule and stick to it on a daily basis. Wake up at the same time every day, jump in the shower, and get ready just like if you are going an office. Set hours for yourself and schedule out tasks so that you have direction throughout the day. Make sure to include time for lunch and also include time for breaks to refresh and recharge.

2. Designate a workspace

A separate office with a good broadband connection, a decent desk, chair, and an extra monitor will help you stay focused. Do not make your bedroom or living room as your workplace. Establish an area where you will work, and commit to working in this space every day. Be sure your workspace is quiet so you can focus on the task at hand on a daily basis.

3. Don't eat at your desk

Take lunch or dinner breaks. Avoid the urge to eat at your desk while you are working. Take a proper break to say for 30 minutes or an hour, from work to nourish yourself and recharge for the rest of the day.

4. Take regular breaks

To move from your desk or computer, to stretch, to get fresh air, and disconnect from tech device. Maintain brakes in such a way that you will able to take breaks from work that are still productive and help you get personal tasks done so you can spend your time offline teaching, cooking, or relaxing, have some sort of family interaction.

5. Ramp up the communication

Use communication tools to indicate your availability. Once you've fixed a daily schedule that is the best fit for you and your team, use different tools to let them know that schedule so your team members in different locations and time zones are aware and reverential of that time. Maintain the calendar of your daily/weekly meeting and share it with all team members.

Platforms such as Google Hangouts, Skype and Slack give you plenty of ways to communicate easily within your team. The more you communicate with team members the more you will feel connected.

6. Stay focused

Many people will be used to working from home one day a week or so, but anything longer than this tends to really feel the consequences. It can be easy to lose focus when working from home for long periods. It often requires us to re-evaluate our priorities, and practice greater discipline and focus. So the key is to stay mindful and focused toward the need.

7. Stay Connected on Video

To avoid feeling quarantined, use video calls to connect with your team and colleagues in a more intentional way. Human interaction, especially if remote work is new for you, can make all the difference in your productivity and your mental and emotional well-being. When you're speaking, look up at the camera on your computer or laptop or tablet whatever device you use for video calls. Possibly video calls are not very comfortable for everyone, but the slight discomfort can be worth the benefit of seeing people's faces.

8. Recognize distractions

Working at home will usually provide more distractions than an office environment. Your day can get interrupted more often than you’d like it to. In these moments it can be easy to get frustrated that your day isn’t going as planned. Recognize the distraction and take the time you need to regroup and get back to work. This is typically a lot easier in the workplace, but at home, we’re met with many more distractions, so it’s crucial to be able to set boundaries and regulate ourselves.

9. Develop a workout routine

Regularly stretching helps you maintain great posture. At a minimum, stretch throughout the day so you don’t get sore or hinder your quality of life. You can also leave yourself motivational sticky notes by your bed, so they are the first thing you see and read in the morning. Pit your running shoe by the side of your bed, so that you remember to take a run or walk. It is recommended to exercise in the morning when you have fewer objections and a longer payoff throughout the day.

10. Monitor your social media

While it can be useful to take a social media break while working or tune into the news, but it’s less helpful to constantly be exposed to thousands of other opinions like social media apps, games, feeds, many of which can be anxiety-inducing.

11. Set a sleep schedule

Aim to get sufficient hours of sleep a night to ensure you have enough energy the following day. When you work from home, it can often be tempting to lie in later or stay up working.
